We have a 15 month old collie cross who has started to bully our older dog who is 3, it is getting worse?

Dogs go through an adolescent stage where they become very challenging..often not obedient, and pushing the limits of dominant behavior. It can start anywhere from after 9 months to 2 1/2 years depending on the breed and size and temperament of the dog. Usually males react more than females. It is the "job" of the older, mature and "first" dog, to teach the younger how to interact socially with dogs (and humans too). When the pup gets a little rambunctious or unable to control impulses, the more mature dog will correct with body language, even a growl or a more dominant posture to let the pup know he is doing something unacceptable. Sometimes the pup refuses to read that warning and does escalate his own bad behavior. It is YOUR job to monitor them totally, complete supervision when together. Watch the behavior closely and if you see anything, you need to STOP it before it starts. It could be just a look, or a raised tail by the younger...you must immediately step in and correct.

If your pup has not been in training yet for basic obedience, do that now, and use the commands leave it or away to tell him to back off from the other. ( My command was chill..worked for me).

Some people train their dogs to basic obedience and then do not reinforce. Training is a way of life. Each interaction with your dogs should contain training elements..and you should run through your training for about 10 minutes every day..just to keep things fresh. I combine my reinforcement training with one of my dogs walks and run through sit stay leave it, off , place watch me and down while we are out in the neighborhood.

With a new dog it is important to keep up with traiining, superivise and correct, and always always treat them both equally.

The good news is that if you keep it up, the phase should not last longer than 6 months. Good luck!We have a 15 month old collie cross who has started to bully our older dog who is 3, it is getting worse?
