How many mpg in a 22 ft Penske truck towing a small vehicle?

We're driving from Florida to New Mexico and were wondering if anyone might know about (knowledgable guesses are ok too) how many miles we might be able to travel in a not fully packed, 22 foot diesel Penske without stopping for fuel. The truck has a 50 gallon tank and we don't like to go below 3/4 a tank when driving. Also, we will be towing a '79 CJ-7 (with a fiberglass body, it's not too heavy). How many mpg in a 22 ft Penske truck towing a small vehicle?
With the diesel I wouldn't worry about dropping below 3/4s tank of fuel, or you'll be stopping all the time. Travelled that route before.. it's fairly flat, only a couple of hills to cross. The headwinds will be your main fuel eater.. If you got 11-12 mpg overall I would be happy. How many mpg in a 22 ft Penske truck towing a small vehicle?
a diesel will probably get you around 12-16mpg. It can also vary from there depending on how loaded the truck is and how fast you driveHow many mpg in a 22 ft Penske truck towing a small vehicle?
Well auto or manual trans makes a difference--you will have to stop for fuel and then fill it when you return the truck--there is a problem with the rentals that you don't know--you can buy the insurance for the term of the rental--at least you better buy it. However the big box is NOT included in the coverage of that policy--basically because the box is the most frequently damaged part of the truck and renters probably have NO experience driving that size truck. Thousands can be spent on the repairs. Towing and a partial load would be cheaper and safer and less money if you paid a moving company to haul it for you--The jeep fits in the truck and the goods can be piled on and around it--NO problem--no headcahe--and they help you unload. Doing it yourself is TOO risky and tiresome. AND they are insured to handle your stuff properly--if you lose the stuff you are out of luck and out of belongings. Pay the price and do this the easy way. The normal mileage is 6 to 8 mpg---and a total fill at the end-- there is a couple of hundred right there--add insurance--tolls, motels--food, aggravation--I hope you see what I am saying here
Depends on the size of the motor, how fast you go, if there are headwinds (a real killer in your non-aerodynamic brick, er truck), and how heavily it is loaded. 12 to 15 MPG would be my best guess.
