Why does my dog bully his treats?

My dad has a 16 year old Lhasa Apso named Rudy that is underweight and boney鈥? He does not eat much dog food because he is fed table scraps (like pizza or bread鈥? Yea yea I know it isn鈥檛 great but no one in my dads house listens to me). Rudy also tends to hide food by burying it in the couch or other places. I have been told he does this because he isn鈥檛 hungry or doesn鈥檛 feel safe or whatever.

I have a 6 month old Lhasa Apso named Dylan. Dylan is big for his breed but not fat. He is fed nothing but dog food or vet approved food like raw carrots, banana, pumpkin or, occasionally as a treat, peanut butter in his Kong. Every time it comes to feedings Dylan acts like I starve him鈥?. he eats his food within minutes and often looks at his bowl as if he thinks if he stares hard enough more will appear. Dylan is also given bully stick to help with teething and destructive behavior. He is not allowed on the couch or bed unless someone is holding him.

A few days ago I ran out of bully sticks so he didn鈥檛 have one for a few days. He started chewing on everything to relieve his teeth and just became a terror. As soon as I got more bullys he turned into his normal self except he would destroy one bully in a day as apose to a few days鈥o I gave him a bully today and started to get some of my work done. I check on him and he is on the couch trying to burry his bully!!!!! I spank him and throw his bully on the ground and he goes to chew on it. I leave the room to get more work done and he hops back on the couch to burry it again! My dog has NEVER does this鈥?

Why is my dog burying his bullys? Why does he think it is all of a sudden OK to go on the couch? When we leave in the morning he doesn鈥檛 have access to the couches and my boyfriends and I are very strict鈥ny advice? Why does my dog bully his treats?
First: either your dog is allowed on the couch or he's not. Putting him up there when you're sitting there makes him think it's ok. Spanking him when he goes up there alone will confuse him. So he's either allowed on, or he isn't.

Second: you can put a big metal spoon (like serving spoon size) in his bowl. The noise it makes will startle him and slow down his eating because he has to work around it so he doesn't scarf it down. (Make sure you supervise him while doing this).

Third: Some dogs dig/bury and some don't. Maybe it's in the Lhasa Apso's nature to dig. Do some research on it.Why does my dog bully his treats?
well my dog does that too he is just playing with the treat he is just playing. well i do not know why he just goes on the couch my dog never does that..... well you could train him to stay off the couch it would take awhile butt it would be worth it.Why does my dog bully his treats?
Omg i have a lhasa apso too. finally somebody who has one. anyways, You need to show that you are the pack leader, you rule him not the other way around. instead of you taking the bully away from him make him drop it so that he wants to, (actually he has to drop it himself but be persistent). I suggest seeing a show called dog whisperer cesar millan is the one on the show he works wonders, so i suggest looking him up. or on the internet hopes this helps a little.
