Has your dog or pup gotten soft stools with Bully Sticks?

It seems to never fail. Bully sticks seem to give my 7 month old Shiba very soft stools the next day. Has anyone had the same experience? My vet said that rawhide, bully sticks, etc can sometimes do that especially with some carrying salmonella, etc. I guess I'll have to get rid of this favorite treat. I don't give him it very often at all also just to see what the cause is. I also give him those dried chicken strips and sometimes softer stools result.Has your dog or pup gotten soft stools with Bully Sticks?
i have a pair of siberian huskies and i work for an animal supply store in oklahoma. i do a lot of research on dog digestion and what upsets and what doesen't, and the simple answer is that every dog is different. if you wish to continue giving your shiba the bully sticks i recommend giving it in short sessions. one of my girls is very sensitive to a lot of things and something as simple as a bite of a new treat will often throw her stools into liquid.

and as for the chicken, check your ingredients. if there are additives of any kind that may be doing it. corn, wheat, soy, and sugar products are what you really need to watch out for.

it may be the way they dry the bully stick, you may look into Pizzles and Flossies which are made by Merrick and smokehouse, to see if it makes a difference. adding some natural yogurt to your dog's diet should also help. the bacterias in the yogurt help your dog to build extra digestive enzymes which will more than likely firm the stool. also mixing a little bit of canned pumpkin into the yogurt is a good way to firm the stool. the yogurt will help with coat, skin, and digestion.

and on a last note, a little off subject, i highly recommend a high fish, low grain food for the double coated breeds. Natural Balance, Taste of The Wild, and Wellness are three wonderful foods that have done great things for my dogs. we are currently on Natural Balance by Dick Van Patton, the food literally saved my dog's life. she is allergic to prettymuch everything, and switching to that food helped her grow her coat back and she hardly scratches at all anymore.
None of my dogs have a problem with the Bully sticks; the dehydrated Chicken/ Duck/ Kangaroo strips nor the dried liver treats either.

My neighbor says their Rotties do though.Has your dog or pup gotten soft stools with Bully Sticks?
I feed both the dehydrated chicken strips and the bully sticks to my Yorkies without any problems. They do have problems with those Pupperoni Sticks which are junk anyway.
I haven't had any problems with bully sticks or dehydrated chicken/duck/turkey.

Perhaps hold off on them until he's older, he may be able to handle them then.Has your dog or pup gotten soft stools with Bully Sticks?
I feed my dog those same two items for treats and don't have any problems. My dog is 17 months old so maybe once he gets older it won't effect him as much.
