Why does my dog run to other wrestling dogs and get in the middle of it?

I have a 6 year old rottweiler and he is very well socialized. Lately at the dog park we go on our usual walks and then stand around and I chat with some friends. Zeke will just stand/sit or lie down by me and watch the dogs run around and chase each other. Dogs will run up to him, sniff him, he sniffs them and they go away. That is, until two dogs start fighting or even wrestling. Then he runs over to them and either runs around them looking like a wrestling referee, or he gets in the middle of it and helps one of the dogs. Sometimes he helps the dog getting picked on and sometimes he helps the bully dog. Why is he doing that? Why does my dog run to other wrestling dogs and get in the middle of it?
I don't know. My dog does the same thing at dog parks though. He thinks it is HIS dog park and has to "supervise" everyone there. It cracks me up. As long as no one gets hurt, don't worry about it. He is getting older I guess and feels he has to interfere, that is what I think my 10 year old lab/chow thinks anyway.
FOR STARTERS, HOW OLD IS YR FRIEND,, IT MAY BE THE BULLY IS FRIENDLY DOMINATE,, BUT YR DOG IS AT THE AGE WHERE HE IS MORE MALE LIKE U KNOW '' AS LONG AS THEY ARNT TO AGRESSIVE IT,S GOOD PLAY

( NO FOUL) NO HARMWhy does my dog run to other wrestling dogs and get in the middle of it?
Well, different dogs have different ways of showing other dogs how they are like. Its depend on what kind of dog it is-- pomeranian, poodle, pug, beagle, ect. Just like the beage, it is sweet, kind, and VERY active to everyone. A pug, likes to sleep a lot and doesnt like to be bothered. Also, just like the Shih Tzu, it also doesn't like to be bothered. These two dogs are the relaxing types. I also have a pomeranian who is also very active and likes to chase dogs. Sometimes is depends on how you treat and train them and when they are older they act as how you treat them. Sometimes dogs just chase or wrestle some other dogs because whem they're at home they feel lonely. If you are at school, work, or anywhere else, you should find a comforting way for your dog to keep company. Dogs like being loved and cared for. You must treat your dog fairly or he/she will not treat you like a good owner.
He sounds like he is controlling. Most likely a dominant male. When he does that you should pull him back and tell him no. Give him a 2 minute time out each time. Be consistent because you don't want him to think he is the boss becuase then he could get too rough. Why does my dog run to other wrestling dogs and get in the middle of it?
In his last life he was a major in the UN peace keeping force. Jokes aside, its a normal tendency in most dogs to involve themselves in ongoing fights either to demonstrate their supremacy over other dogs or even to show their bravery to their masters. They do this more often if their masters r around as they know that if they r on the receiving end there is someone who shall come to their rescue.
He's trying to be a peace keeper, it seems like.

My parent's youngest dog does that whenever the other dog attacks the senior dog.

Maybe he's just afraid of someone getting hurt, so he wants to keep an eye on it.
he probably wants some of the action.

you should let him get more active more; since you say that he sits down calmy whenever you're talking to someone, i think he's just bottling up all that energy.

make sure you take him running, buy him a squeaky doll that he can play with and wrestle with.
Nature versus nurture here. Dogs may be very docile until they hear a fight, they can't help it! They will also "end the suffering" of a sick or injured animal by killing it, same theory here. I'd keep Zeke on a leash and correct him to sit/stay every time he tried to join a fight, eventually with training he'll learn to obey you and ignore the fight(good luck, it's consistent work!) Gotta love those "alpha dog" attitudes.
