this sounds kind of retarded but it's just a little issue.
my newly adopted legit stray dog [we picked her up from the streets] loves bully sticks. the problem here is that she chews wonderfully away at it when there's someone she knows nearby. but once she's alone, she buries it. i'm aware that she did it before as a survival skill although honestly i'm not sure if she ever finds her buried food. it's really annoying because the point of giving dogs a bully stick is for them to have something to do when they're alone. she's an outside dog, btw. %26amp; i know why dogs bury bones. that's not my question.
i've thought about tying it down with a string or something but it doesn't seem feasible and yes, she might choke. any ideas, tips?
the problem is: i give her the bully stick because none of us can be with her at the moment. we leave, she buries it, and is left once again with nothing to do. it's a huge waste of money, too.
with this issue, there is no point in giving her a bully stick because she can't enjoy it! and i don't think she digs them back up, either. My dog keeps burying bully sticks and doesn't get chance to chew them?
Unless you have dug up the yard to find the bully sticks then you can't know for sure she does not find them again. I had a half Chow Chow that would bury his rawhide bones, and then dig them up after about a week. They looked really gross to me but he seemed to like them better that way. You might try giving her a little bigger one or get a Kong and put treats in it so that she has to work the Kong around to get them out. Or try some other type of container that has treats in it that has to be moved to get at the treats. You might also give her a dig pit that you bury toys in. If you are really concerned about her getting bored then you might try this site: Pet Place.com.My dog keeps burying bully sticks and doesn't get chance to chew them?
that's what dogs do - she/he will dig themup at a later time - mine does the same thing
