They are great playmates and absolutely adore each other....
BUT my Aussie likes to pick on my bloodhound an start fights sometimes. My bloodhound doesn't fight back, she tries to get away but My Aussie just is being a bully. I know this is a dominance thing so I guess my main question is...
When My Aussie is trying to start a fight with my bloodhound, how do I reprimand her to let her know that this is NOT ok? Do I lay her on her side and tell her no? Do I put her in the kennel for a "time out"? Is there anything I can do to prevent these random ***** fits? I'm looking for the proper way to handle this that way no one gets hurt. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.My dog is being a bully to my other dog...help! ?
Because Aussie's are herders they like to establish dominance and pick on the bloodhound is probably one of those ways. Some things you can do is, this sounds crazy, but acknowledge the aussie's dominance by letting her outside first, feeding her first etc. She'll feel better knowing you understand she's the alpha and I bet the blood hound won't even notice. My dog is being a bully to my other dog...help! ?
Im no professional dog trainer, but I would use a remote shock collar and give him a small jolt every time she starts bullying. I would also reinforce the shock, by verbally telling the dog NO!
There is a guy in my neighborhood who has 2 small poodle dogs. One of them has a bad leg and always bites at the other dog's leg. The guy always yells at the dog and tells him NO! The dog keeps bitting at the other dog's leg tho. A shock collar seems like the only simple solution for his problem, and maybe yours too.
Best of luck!
