Launi is an American Pit Bull Terrier. She is 50 pounds of heavy bone and muscle. She loves to give kisses all over my face and lick my ears. Sometimes she gets a bit overly excited so I have to insist she calm down.
She also like to sit next to me and leans. Turns her head to my face and slurp.
Anybody else have a bully breed that does this?
Give me some ways your dogs show you affection.|||JC the bulldog in my avatar gives bear hugs, its quite cute. He just jumps up and then hugs. Sometimes he stretched on us instead but that is still cute. He doesn't really give kisses much.
Kira always wags her tail and jumps around when she sees me. She will kiss my face all over sometimes. Maxxi does the same
Buddy will give kisses if you lay down next to him.
Roomba, Eureka, and Sizzle, all give kisses and hugs but not bear hugs like JC. All three girls will try and crawl into our laps if we let them.|||Pixie, to the best of our knowledge, is all APBT. She's between 35 and 40 pounds (her weight fluctuates, lol). She would lick someone's face raw if they would let her, lol. She also thinks she's a lap dog, but rarely gives kisses when she's on your lap, instead, she sprawls out and takes up your whole lap, lol (keep in mind that these things aren't always your dog showing affection, it can sometimes be the dog trying to show dominance over you, etc...)
Aside from the stereotypical ways of showing affection, in my opinion, she also shows it by behaving on a leash, listening to a command WHEN the command is given, realizing that she is below myself, my husband, and my children in the pack, and being an over all well behaved dog. In my opinion, that is one of the BEST ways a dog can show affection, respect, and appreciation, and is one of the best ways you know you're doing something right.|||Cane Corso Italian Mastiffs- x 2 Female is 17 months and the Male is 14 months both are very loving and effectionate dogs, They like to lay beside me and put their head on my lap ummm at 120 lbs they each take up the whole couch if i let them though and then the other would sit and lean at the side of couch sad they cant both be on there. If i stand they lean sometimes and lick my hand lap dogs if i sit down although i have to insist they not be allowed on couch as it allows them to think like the alpha and that is me... as cesar millan always says.
If i go in the other room the follow me and lay at doorway with sad look to be able to come in. And then they're little stub tail wiggles so hard it sounds like someone knocking on the door. THey both like to lay at the floor by my chair while on computer and if i pet them they like my hand and get all happy. Bully.. well they just look tough they are softies at heart|||My Cavs all need to be close to me. They are also lickers which I have taught them not to do. I am a bit of a germaphob and frankly licking (esp the face) disgusts me. They still lick the other members of the family just not me.
Altho we have several dogs they are not all mine per say. Some have stronger bonds with other family members but currently my dogs are where they typically always are. The following dogs are solely mine tho :) Marianna, my oldest blenheim is under my computer desk at my feet. Ariel, my ruby, is behind me on my bed along with Mindy, my tri. If I so much as glance in their direction tails will go and big brown eyes will light up. Jewel is beside me on the floor leaning into my leg. She always has to be touching me. Still a pup yet, but if I look at her that will be an invite to lunge into my lap. Dollie, her mama will do the strangest yodel, howl, bark to greet me. She only does this for me hehe.|||Cody is the sweetest dog I ever met, but curiously ignores strangers when he passes them by after the initial excitement. But when he gets to know you (and them...) well, he's the most adorable goofy big pup EVER. He jumps up and down, he licks you, he wags his tail and the funniest thing he does is a HUGE variety of sounds. He's very noisy, though he doesn't bark too often; when you're stroking him and petting him and he's really enjoying it, he begins groaning and whining loudly. It's so cute!
Sometimes I'm walking around the house and he puts his face between my legs and twists. Very cute as well! :)|||I don't have a bully breed, but Kingston just goes crazy with the kisses. He'll get right up in your face, one paw on each shoulder and just kiss you like crazy. If your try to turn away, he just follows you. He goes right for the lips. It's cute.
He also will bring people things (I don't know if it's affection or not, but I'd like to think so, haha). He'll just bring a toy or a chewy, drop it in your lap then put his chin on your knee and just look at you with those puppy dog eyes. It's so darn cute. :]|||My Aussie is a 70lb fluff ball. ;)
He climbs all over me and goes crazy with licking, I have to kick him off me because he gets so excited and hurts me LOL. He'll walk up to me and jump up and put his front legs on my shoulders when I'm sitting down and lick head too, it's pretty gross.
He also sits in my lap, and gently licks my hand or will come and sit his head on my knees and fall asleep sitting up. He's so cute lol.|||Not Bully breeds, but my dogs are very affectionate!
Gordon Setter Nick is not a licker; he shows affection by pressing his cheek against mine and 'humming', I don't know how else to explain it. Sort of a doggie purr? He always wants to be close to me, touching if possible.
Kharma, the other Gordon, *is* a licker. she will smooch you any chance she gets. She is also a toucher (all Gordons are) and she also brings me toys amd chewies and lays them on my lap, wanting to share.
Both the Papillons, Bunny %26amp; Cricket will shower me with kisses, and they don't let me out of their sight.
All four of them- when they look into my eyes, I can FEEL the love pouring out.|||Chaos loves to lick! He practically gives me showers, lol!
He likes licking ears, hands, and my face.
Also, when I'm sitting on the floor, he will jump up and put his paws on my shoulder and rest his head on my shoulder.
I don't think of that one as affection as much as being bored and wanting attention.
Whatever it is, it sure is cute!
Launi sounds adorable, just like how I picture an APBT.|||My pit does the same thing-she also thinks she's a lap dog. Every time I'm on the couch she sits and stares at me until I invite her up, then inches her way onto my lap (like she's trying to do right now). So many people call them "bully breeds"..but while they are very protective, aggressive breeds are amazing dogs when well trained. My dogs are all big babies around me and kids. They're great =)|||I used to have two pit mixes...i had to give them up because i had to move. i had a male and female, the male (cash) was 66 lbs and the female (shorty) 59 lbs. to show affection, they would do the usual licking, wagging their tail, and jumping on me. if i sat down they would climb in my lap and fall asleep. also, cash would just lean on me. if i walked away from them and left them in the yard, they would bark at me like puppies and cry.|||Same here. One of our APBT girls will climb up on my boyfriends lap, place her paws on either sides of his head and lick his head like a melon. When I'm laying on the couch the other will squeeze between the couch back and me and will place her head on my shoulder and her snout on my neck and snuggle. When I'm sitting and watching TV, the same thing. She will place the bottom of her face (chin to neck) on my shoulder and just sit and lick my neck intermittently until I look at her. How can anyone ignore that? Your sounds like a sweetie as well.|||My oldest shih tzu girl sprawls out on her belly and paws at your feet... Then when you pick her up, she shoves her head under your chin like a cat does, and growls at you while you pet her. (her growl is a "happy moan" of sorts.... she does it when she is really excited) lol.
One of my other shih tzu, when she sees me, lets out a soft sounding howl of sorts... Sounds like "bow wow wow WOOOOOOO!" and dances around, tipping her head back as she howls (again, it's a really soft sound)... she's SOOOO cute... She knows that we just have to pick her up when she does this.
The others just tend to dance around on their hind legs, and then kiss you if you pick them up... oh -lots of tails wagging so hard the dogs can barley stand as well.|||They all kiss, wag tails, climb into my lap. My Sheltie puppy is the only one who really won't sit in my lap, unless she's scared.
My Aussie mix is the biggest of all 4....about 50-60 pounds and solid muscle. She looks like a bear. She'll sit in your lap, but her favorite thing to do is lie beside you with her head against you, then squirm closer and closer with her tail wagging--it's the cutest thing. She can never seem to be close enough.|||My border collie sits beside you and puts her paw on your shoulder, and then when you look over at her she gives you big slurpy wet kisses in the face.
My wolf hybrid puppy likes to pee everywhere when he first sees me then gently mouth my arm while his tail whaps the border collie in the face over and over and over and over. lol.|||We used to have a APBT mix. He was SO affectionate. 75 pound lap dog! He's climb right on your lap, lay his head on you, he just wanted to be next to us wherever we went. He would actually get a little pushy and press a paw against us to "prompt" a belly scratch, which we discouraged. I miss that guy!|||Mine isn't exactly a licker, hes more of a lay right next to you, and put his head in your lap, look at you with his big sweet, appreciative, genuine eyes, tail waggin type of guy. And thats only ONE way he shows affection. There are so many, but not so much with the licking.|||When I get home from work my mini aussie runs up to me and puts his front legs up like a kid wanting to be picked up, and then jumps in my arms and licks my face as many times as possible. Then he snuggles up by my feet when I sit in my chair and watches T.V. with me. Or he lays on the back of my chair and suffles my ear.|||Yes my APBT does the leaning thing and loves to lick. He will get right in your lap if you let him!
My bull terrier does it in a more weird way. Hes not super up in your face like my APBT can be but he still likes affection. Just not quite as much.|||Well, not sure exactly what mine is... though I think he has APBT in him. He is about 30 pounds (still a pup) and he will just crawl into mine or my gf's lap and fall asleep, even if his butt is hanging off lol...|||Mine is a yorkie he licks and licks and he wants me to hold him he loves that. hes just a love bug|||My bull terrier pup licks my toes and then nips my heels :(|||i dont have a pit bull but my dog does the same i think it means it is showing affection|||I just adopted an English Bulldog mix puppy that is now between 3-4 months old about 3-4 weeks ago. I got rid of all of her fleas and ticks and gave her the first set of puppy shots. I basically spoil her...she sleeps with (us) and wakes me up every morning by pulling on my clothes and licking my face when she has to "go make". When I take her out, she does her biz and demands breakfast. So after she eats, she crawls back into bed and "thanks" me by licking my face and nibbling on my ear. Then I give her a natural rawhide and she chews on it before falling back to sleep. Usually when it's time to cool down and it's just her and I, she'll grab her bone and have a seat in my lap while nawing away at it until she falls asleep.
Sometimes I get fed up with her and her harsh biting and bad manners, but I try to keep positive knowing she was in such critical condition when I brought her home. Just when I think she's being unappreciative and I feel like ringing her neck from ripping apart my running sneakers, something will go BOOM! while we're in the back yard and she'll come hauling *** over to me and hide behind me. If anything scares her, she runs to me for protection. It makes me feel so appreciated then for some weird reason. Also, she usually doesn't bark but tonight, while sitting in the car, she let out these two huge WOOFs and sent a lady trying to ask for $$$ away from the car. Another weird way I think she showed some affection. We've got a LOT to work on, but she has come a very long way from where she started! Photos are below if you're interested.
PS- my bf's dad's Shitzu does the "leaning" thing. You can't sit down next to her without her becoming your "butt-buddy"! Literally she has to have her butt touching you lol.
http://m996.photobucket.com/albums/ChiyoBaby/?pbauth=1_uLEBonVPfaLdh1h3YMYz2dTRDbVpXyqAOg72YJH45%2ByGUMJortr84rTniX4MpMZuaR9DEfz57ONv4Nr%2FmCL9VuHF26E9M53eX8xgiqElRGzjQn7MtXix5S82X8unbSAAU5WTwwl%2FY%2FNC7QETwYb3iP4ifgcsbCCGDP1hoUS%2BRzA%3D|||Snookie (APBT) does the EXACT same thing. She also thinks she is a lap dog. She will very awkwardly climb into a chair where someone is sitting and if she cannot get on their lap, she will wrap her self around them from behind. And then, as you said...
SLURP!
My husband thought, for the longest time, she was trying to really lay a kiss on him. I had never seen her do it, but he insisted she was going for his mouth. When I finally saw her do it, I rolled! Jerry chews gum a lot as he is on a diet. She wants the darn gum!!! She was trying to check it out. Of course we had to stop that behavior, but it was funny when I first saw her do it. I think what was funniest is that Jerry thought she was trying to give him a really "sloppy" kiss, French style!
Benji, the Corgi likes to climb on our laps and lay on his back with his head on our chest, in an almost sitting position. Duffie (Miniature Schnauzer) thinks the closer he is to your face, the better, and he is determined to be top dog. He likes to snuggle, but you have to be careful with him. If the other dogs start snuggling too, he will sit on your face!!! Have to be careful falling asleep on the couch. As for the Chihuahua, she is content to get next to your leg and snuggle and also likes to climb up on my shoulder and lick my ear.All of my dogs act a tad jealous. Snookie will lick Pee Wee if she is on my shoulder. Jerry is convinced Snookie is trying to lick her away (probably so!).
