You will not be able to purchase XP any more so it would have to be Win7.

XP is only available

a) illegally

b) to companies that have purchased downgrade rights from MS
Windows 7 of courseShould I get XP pro or Windows 7 for my new comp?
ur comp. has got aquite good configurationSo u may use Win 7 but old timer Win XP boots %26amp; works faster then newer operating systems %26amp;Wind 7 is ahead only when it comes to surfing in net
Hello. You should definitely get Windows 7. I have heard that it is as stable as Windows XP Pro plus it has several additional features. I would not recommend Windows Vista as it seems to slow down your PC.

There have also several minor problems reported with Windows Vista.Should I get XP pro or Windows 7 for my new comp?
7....

its new and more stable
Definately you should go for it dear.
It's going to be a matter of personal preference and what applications you are running or want to run in the future.

XP is a great operating system. But it's limited to 4GB memory and old architecture. The world is moving on to a new, modern driver architecture designed to move core functionality from the kernel (where any instability can bring down the whole system) to user space.

The performance results are a mixed bag with no real winnert. Windows XP though appears to be the better performer but the results are very close both.

Clearly for any Multi-Media apps you want Windows 7, Windows XP lags very far behind in all of the tests.

Windows 7 also wins the Benchmark test for the multi-core efficiency of the processors.

I like XP and the way it performs, but I also like 7 for what it offers. Yeah, I think a 64 bit XP would kick, but most people who use XP don鈥檛 use 64 bit. They鈥檙e on the fence between XP 32 and going 64 bit, which is just trivial in my mind.

In my personal opinion, windows 7 wins my heart and is worth to look.
Xp and vista is no longer supported by Microsoft it is now going on 11 yrs old and well passed it sell by date, for windows 7 I would hold off, if you do your research even on answers you will find that millions

of people are having big problems with windows 7,

There are other free alternative operating systems available that are 10 years ahead of Microsoft, these alternative operating systems are written and supported by the big names companies Intel, IBM, ATI Nvidia, Have you heard of Android the operating system thats been developed by Google for the Mobile Netbooks, Notebooks mobile phones, Stop thinking Windows start thinking FLOSS (Free Linux Operating System Software) It is faster, stable more secure, and it is up to date JUNE 2010,
