I am 13 and want to become a tennis pro really bad?

I have been playing for about two years now. I am pretty decent. (I can hit with pretty good topspin shots and I can do a fast spin serve) I play tennis comp for my school (grade 6) and I do private coaching. I am progressing but I dont think I can progress fast enough to become pro. Do u have any advice?I am 13 and want to become a tennis pro really bad?
just keep practicing the more you practice the better you'll improve to become a great tennis player good luck
Well by pro do you mean top 100 in the world or do you mean a no name top 500 who now teaches at tennis academies??

Tennis generally requires a lot of time and money. A lot of parents have their kids home schooled just so they can train with a private coaches in the morning and in the afternoon. Just look at the top 10 players in the world and their tennis histories.

My advice would to make sure your coach is adequately qualified to take you to a high level. You wan't a coach that can actually hit with you instead of feed balls. Other than that it just takes practice. Try to get involved in as many matches as you can. Everytime you see a tournament . . . sign up. You are young and you have the time.I am 13 and want to become a tennis pro really bad?
i have been playing for seven years and im in 7th grade. I'm not so sure its possible to become a pro when you start so late. I know I'll never make pro, considering all of the better kids that have parents that are coaches and have been playing since they were born. I'm not trying to criticize you but im trying to be realistic. Maybe you can be a coach or something.
I'm 13 as well and also love tennis...

U need 2 start playing tournaments because when u r playing matches, your brain starts thinking differently due to anxiety/nervousness. Just remember that tournaments r vital. Private lessons are pretty important but always remember that YOU NEED TO PLAY TOURNAMENTS.I am 13 and want to become a tennis pro really bad?
ya its possible for sure, my pro didnt TOUCH a racket till junior year and whent and played for oru, with a scholarship. He went on tour for a while.

But he was black...
chat with your coach. ask about your progress and whether your goal is achievable and if youve got the potential and are dedicated then go for it!

goodluck!
Play tournaments. Try to find a hitting partner who is as motivated as you are.
Starting at age 11 is pretty late

Talk with your coach about your goals and make them work you hard.

You've gotta be fit so a fitness coach may be a good idea.

Always play the way your coach is telling you to, it's better to lose playing the way that will help you get better than win in a way that reinforces dead-end techniques(something that works now but will prevent you from winning against a better standard of opponent.)

Play lots of tournaments and talk with the successful players you meet about everything tennis especially their mindsets, psychology and tactics.

The following is from someone called cat girl who answered a similar question with some good advice also.( including enjoy your tennis!)

Sure! First off, one of the options is to get a coach or go to an academy. It all depends on how good you want to become. Are you looking to go pro? Get a college scholarship? Or our you playing just for fun?

If you are looking to go pro, you might want to get a coach and fitness coach. Second you'll have to play everyday at least five or six days a week and for about 5 to 6 hours a day plus fitness about 11/2 to 2 hours. You need to run both sprints and long distance. Also do weights mostly with the upper body, core, and legs. Keep in mind "No Pain - No Game".

If you're looking to get a scholarship to college you might want to train a little less about 3-4 days a week and 2-3 hours a day depending on the college you want to attend. You might still need to do fitness for at least 1/2 an hour or so. Still you need to work on running sprints and long distance. You might not have to do as much with the weights-just upper body and legs.

If you're playing just for the fun of it(nothing wrong with being a recreational player) you might want to find a coach that teaches more than 1 child at a time. You want to have fun so there have to be at least more than 2-3 kids so that you can have FUN!! Also you don't really need to work out but if you want to that would help your game a lot!! You can play as often as you like a week! No limits!!!

You should have fun at what you're doing and a little pushing always helps! You can find a summer camp nearby and train there. It's usually a lot of fun + you make a lot of new friends!! Tennis is the BEST sport EVER!! Enjoy it!! I'm looking to go pro-so see you soon, I'll be on TV in a few years(2-3). If I don't make it(can't even think of it after all the things I went through) I'll probably just play for a good college. L8ter and good luck!!
