Looking for fine dining in NYC?

Hello, I am going to visit New York City, and I am looking for some fine dining. I am not looking necessarily for a $200 meal, black tie deal... I am just looking for a nice place to eat. Like a sit down, casual to semi formal (maybe), good portions with good prices. I don't mind paying $50 for a meal if its size is worth $50.

I commonly eat at your typical Ruby Tuesdays, Chilies, Red Robins, and other such places, varying up to Olive Garden and Texas Road House. These places are nice for typical dining, but I am looking for a nice place for me and my fiance to have a nice meal, better then those.

Please suggest anything! I would prefer a steak house that offers a variety, but anything may do, although please nothing too exotic (Indian food, Vegan dining, Sushi [tried it, didn't like it], other such foods, not for us).

Also, if it helps with anything, I can speak mild french, so going to a place with a french menu or similar things, wouldn't be a problem.Looking for fine dining in NYC?

Try Cafe Un Deux Trois at 123 W 44th Street, (between Avenue Of The Americas %26amp; Broadway). They have a great prix fixe pre-theater menu.
