My elderly mom and dad have a situation with her next door neighbor and her very aggressive dog. First, 3 years ago, this neighbor used to bring the dog over to my parent's house at dinner time for attention (BTW, my mother was not interested in this neighbor OR her dog), and the dog would wreak havoc when it was over and mom couldn't take the constant disruption every night, so she asked her to not bring the dog over anymore. This neighbor lady got really angry over that, and from that time on - whenever my mom or dad go in the backyard, or if she has a backyard picnic get together - this lady turns the dog outside and he comes barreling right to the fence, running back and forth, baring it's teeth, growling, barking nonstop, and she just stands there smiling. It is very very distracting, annoying, and frankly, this dog is so aggressive that should it ever get loose or jump the fence, I don't know what it will do. My Mom won't put a privacy fence up unless it is a last resort...SO, DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS how to put a stop to this Doggie Bully??? Talking to the neighbor has done nothing as she wants the dog to antaganize my parents. Thanks for any hints or suggestions.Neighbor's dog is a bully, what to do?
There are several devices on the market that emit a loud piercing horrible sound when activated by a dog barking. The idea is that the aversive sound every time the dog barks will cause a decrease in the behavior. You could mount one inside the yard near the fence, perhaps on a stick. Or just take it outside with you.
If the neighbor were not standing there, I would have suggested taking high value treats out there with you each time (hotdog pieces, cheese, etc) and toss him some each time he sees you. That can change a dog's opinion in a matter of days.
About all you can do is to plant a dense privacy hedge next to the fence, in your parent's' yard. You could try reporting the dog to animal control as a nuisance and a potentially dangerous animal. The neighbor sounds unhinged. Don't mess with crazy people. They can be dangerous.Neighbor's dog is a bully, what to do?
it might be too much but i suggest that u call the police if it is bugging them that much. Just getting mad at their neighbour %26amp; it's dog won't help the situation. hope that helps! :P
Start making complaints to Animal Control. Have the neighbors start calling in as well. Perhaps a few hefty fines will help.Neighbor's dog is a bully, what to do?
Call animal control.. Your parents have the right to enjoy their home and yard.
just try to confront this person and threaten them with a court order. that's wat i would do.
kick his fat a--
Look up the nuisance laws in your town. Then tell this lady exactly what part of the law she is violating and inform her that if she continues this behavior that the police WILL be called. Your parents have a right to enjoy their property and if it takes a visit from the police and the threat of a citation to get through to this lady then so be it. That said, there is a lot of stock in the old saying that good fences make good neighbors. In the long run it would be far less hassle and probably less expensive than noise aversion etc for your parents to simply invest in a higher fence and/or a privacy fence to secure their property. Keep in mind that this woman's whole goal seems to be to get some kind of attention from your family and simply ignoring her and her barking dog entirely would probably be the best way to stop this behavior. If she can't get a rise out of them, eventually she'll get tired of jumping up to let the dog out every time your parents want to use their back yard.
definatly contact the city and let them know the situation, theres leash laws and if they arnt followed they will take the dog. dont take chances, i know a guy who was bitten by his OWN dog and he almost died from a septic infection from the dogs saliva, it caused severe blood poisoning and his arm almost had to be amputated, so dont take any chances, call the city immediately and EVERY time the dog is out without a strong leash, they will talk with this lady and if she gets enough complaints they will take action. other wise, without legal help, theres little u can do besides ask the lady to control her psycho dog, and it seems that doesnt get u anywhere.
