If you own a bully breed or large dog you know how hard it is to keep them in good toys.
Ive been doing some research on line and found two balls that are supposed to be "Indestructible" or almost.
Ones at Petsmart

It's only $10 (yeah I know you get what you pay for)
The other is a Boomer Ball

More expensive but may be worth it?
Just curious if anyone has experience with either balls, good or bad.
(Please don't suggest a basketball or soccer ball or anything else. All have been tried and failed with my pit bull)Bully breeds and large dog owners?
after going through so many toys balls, ropes, kongs, you name it , i just made them a springpole..thats pretty much the only toy they play with now. its an outside toy but they love it it great exercise and they cant tear it up like a toy thats just laying on the ground. they are not expensive to make, and its great exercise for dogs.
I just went straight to a jolly ball. They are made for horses, Its a hoot watching my dogs trying to get it in their mouths ..let me get the link

I have 2 or 3 on the farm *meant* for the horses, but dogs loved them more!!Bully breeds and large dog owners?
Pitties, I am convinced, will find a way to destroy anything. I have tried the so-called indestructible toys at petco and petsmart with the same messy results as everything else. The only toy they did not manage to completely annihilate was the kong.
EDIT: No sh*t Reika!! Really? None of the pitties I've fostered have ever been able (or maybe just not willing) to tear apart a Kong, save the fleece cover on the wubba which lasted about 15 minutes.
As a matter of fact that was the first toy I ever bought for my first German Shepherd Dog. He carried it everywhere with him. They are very heavy!! He held onto it for his entire life (~4 years). I still have it for my dogs now and for its entire 13 years, it has been completely intact. Now I'm not sure if the ball is that exact brand, but it's solid rubber and about the size of my fist.
I have also had success with a material called Zogoflex. It's soft, but is still durable. It bounces, floats and rolls. If you can find Huck Durable Ball Dog Toys. I've had a lot of success with them.
Here they are!!

ADD: Rachel, if you would like to witness the destruction of a Kong come on over. I know of a Bluetick Coonhound that can destroy them in a matter of minutes!!
ADD2: I have never met another dog that could destroy a Kong like this one can. This little Bluetick can't hold onto any sort of toy for more than a couple of days.Bully breeds and large dog owners?
Honestly, after reading the description on the Boomer Ball, I wouldn't buy it or recommend it.
"It Is Designed Not To Be Picked Up By The Dog So Should Be A Bigger Than The Dog Can Carry."
What did that even mean?!
Have you tried the new Kong? Its called the Extreme Kong, I've tried them (as I work with pits and pit mixes) and have found that they CAN'T destroy this toy.

Its absolutely the best toy I've found for the power chewers.
I own a pit bull, but fortunately, he is not rough with his toys. However, I work in a kennel and we have a german shepherd who boards here and brings a blue ball, about the size of a small basket ball. It is plastic and says indestructible on it. It has a hole on the top of it, I'm not sure of it's purpose, but if you see one like this, IT IS INDESTRUCTIBLE!!! "Jas" has been bringing it for over a year and it's worn for sure, but not destroyed!!!
I have a Boomer ball for my pit. It would be pretty difficult for him to destroy -- if he'd play with it. He's only chased it a few times. He was over a year old when I got it, maybe he was too old or maybe he just doesn't like to play chase by himself. Does your pit at least chase a basketball or soccerball?
The only way he'd probably destroy the boomer ball is by chewing at the place where the plug is. And that's not easy to do because the size of the ball (10") is good for chasing but not for gripping and holding. My pit does love to race around the yard with a toy, to try to get me or my other dog to chase him. It's like a game of keep-away.
We've got a rott/retriever mix. He tears apart everything. The expensive tennis balls last him a while but they aren't good for dogs teeth. Them big kong balls with the squeakers in last him a while too. I don't know about the other 'indestuctable' stuff. My dog was scared of a soccer ball : )
The one at Petsmart looks destructible. But Buster cubes aren't destructible.http://www.bustercube.com/
The boomer ball looks like it might work better then the the one at Petsmart.
What about a ball sock? My dogs love it! they don't even tear the sock but the love love playing with it. I just put a ball in a sock and Woila!

This is the only one I have had success with for my Amstaff, Those Cuz balls are supposed to be good, she had the squeaker and feet off in 5 minutes and it was in the garbage in 6 minutes... My girl chewed a lacrosse ball to bits. The first one is worth a shot for the price, the second on I am not nuts about the fact it is not meant to be picked up...what is that all about...
ADD** The good thing about that ball is when you throw it, it will bounce all over the place cause of the bumps.
Ahhh... yes. I have a pit bull and finding toys has been hard for her. Here are a few things:
- Nylabones (Make sure thet're REALLY hard though! Not the plastic ones either)
- Rawhide bones
- A jolly ball for a horse (Not flavored, if possible)
- A big favorite of my dog is a strong bike tire hanging from a sturdy braanch in the backyard. We also tied a thick tug rope at the bottom for lots of tug of war fun!
- Rope toys with tennis balls, or any sturdy ball at the end.
- Basketballs or soccer balls. My dog LOVES these!
- We got a ball that was made of knotted ropes... hmmmm... where did we buy that? It's one of my dog's favorite possessions!
I added links of more toys not mentioned above.
I'll add more as I think for a while...
I have a German shepherd/Rottweiler/pit bull/timber wolf mix soo he is a big guy! Also my dog loved them and you dog(s) should too GOOD LUCK!!!
